Goudhurst occurs as village inside Kent on the Weald, about Twelve miles south of Maidstone.
It stands in the carrefour, in which there is a big village pool.
History
A church around Goudhurst probably existed yearn prior to 1119, its earliest recorded date. A church has been altered & restored several days on top a centuries. Until 1637 it got the tall steeple which was in time destroyed by lightening. In a period of a Victorian era the church was restored per designer Richard Carpenter
A village was one of people required in the Wealden iron industry; it was a centre for the growing of hops; and likewise of weaving. The class action of weavers' bungalow stands opposite a church.
A Battle of Goudhurst around 1747 led to the end of the Hawkhurst Gang of smugglers.
Bedgebury
Bedgebury is one of a oldest estates insidelaware Kent: getting given its title to a de Bedgebury personal, it passed into the mitts of the Culpeper family in 1450. Whilst the estate was sold inside 1680, the recently home was built which itself became a girls' school in the Twenties.
Bedgebury Pinetum is nearby. It was acquired per Forestry Commission in 1924.
Railway
A branch railway line, today closed, from either Paddock Wood had a station for the village. It was opened in One October 1892, & was originally known as 'Hope Mill for Goudhurst & Lamberhurst'. It was a few few feet away from either a latter.
